hoffman: Plasticity Visualizer   v.01

hoffman plasticity visualizer ("hpv") is a Java application being developed in collaboration with artist George Pearlman of the Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT. Based on the work of artist Hans Hoffman, hpv is an interactive screen based virtual environment for exploring Hoffman's notion of plasticity. The software provides a didactic model for visualizing Hoffman's concept of "push-pull", allowing the user to explore "perceived" 3-dimensional space on a 2-dimensional painting surface. hpv is intended as both a pedagogical tool for helping students better understand pictorial composition as well as modernism/abstraction and also as a creative development environment for digital image making.
